Wilderness Medicine Part 2: Interpreter Preparedness & Communication in Remote Settings- 0.2 CEUs Offered

Building on foundational risk management principles, this session emphasizes interpreter field preparedness -  physically, mentally, and logistically for the field. This session emphasizes readiness — from choosing the right gear and managing hydration to using visual communication tools and staying effective in dynamic, outdoor environments.

Participants will learn how to pack and use essential gear, maintain comfort and safety across changing conditions, and adapt interpreting approaches to remote and mobile settings such as trails, conservation projects, or wilderness classrooms.


Vancro Integrated Interpreting Services (VIIS) is an approved RID CMP sponsor for Continuing Education Activities. This workshop is offered for .2 CEUs in the Professional Studies area at the “extensive” Content Knowledge level. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance. The target audience for this activity is: interpreters who are interested in taking assignments that will take them outside.
