Did you know that there are million acres of land in the US that you own? But whose lands are they really? How is environmental justice intertwined with social justice? And what can you do to make an impact and support your communities?
Did you know that there are million acres of land in the US that you own? But whose lands are they really? How is environmental justice intertwined with social justice? And what can you do to make an impact and support your communities?
CorpsTHAT’s Summer Stewardship Program will give you the skills and knowledge to be better able to answer these questions and support your own local community. Learn how to step-up and be an active citizen as well as how to apply, interview and work for a government agency or environmental organization that works on these lands as a park ranger, naturalist, conservationist or historian.Â
Lessons will be a mixture of in-class virtual meetings, independent activities and postings through our online classroom platform. Each week, participants will take part in citizen science projects, lesson based activities, group discussions and have access to ask questions of Deaf outdoor professionals. This program focuses on integrating science and technology, job ready skills, environmental conservation and social justice activism.
CorpsTHAT believes financial reasons should never be a barrier to accessing the outdoors or outdoor programing and understands everyone’s financial situation is different. We are excited to announce we received enough donations to wave the registration fee for two more applicants. If you would like to make a donation or sponsor a student, please donate here.
