Old Rag, is located 2 hours away from Gallaudet University in Shenandoah National Park. Trip mileage will be between 8 and 9.5 miles round trip and moderate to strenuous terrain.  This is one of the more challenging Backpacking 101 trips with CorpsTHAT, the trail goes up a steep mountain and at times there are rock scrambles, participants are expected to be in good shape and able to hike with 50lbs packs on steep terrain. Participants will camp in the backcountry for one night. Participants will meet at Gallaudet University at 8am to go over basic training and then pack up the CorpsTHAT Van and head off to the park. Meals, transportation and group gear (such as tents, cooking ware, stove, water filtration and if needed backpack will be provided). Participants will return to Gallaudet University by 6pm on Sunday and complete a debrief and program survey.  Two months before the trip’s departure a welcome packet including a personal packing list will be emailed to registered participants.
