Backpacking Course Series- Tuesdays 7pm
Many of us are drawn to the open trail, our gear on our back, and map in hand, searching for some solitude next to a campfire far beyond the city’s lights. If these things seem appealing to you, then this course would be an excellent fit for you. CorpsTHAT’s online backpacking course will cover the tips and tricks of backpacking, and low-impact camping from a Deaf outdoor educator taught in ASL. Topics will include but not limited to proper gear selection, packing your backpack, meal and route planning, basic navigation skills, safety and risk management, water treatment, administering some basic first aid, and waste management. By the end of this course, the many questions and concerns you have about backpacking will be answered, and you will feel prepared and well equipped for your next adventure.
Our intensive backpacking class will take place once per week for five weeks, starting during the third week of October and ending during the third week of November.
We will have two separate sessions, and one session will be on Tuesday, and the other session will be on Thursday, starting at 7 pm until 8:30 pm.
During the week of November 2nd to 5th, you will be expected to do an independent project along with the perk of providing a complimentary one-hour consultation services with your outdoor instructor.
** Courses will run with a minimum capacity of 3 students. If you register and on the start date of the course there are only 2 participants registered you will receive your money back, otherwise all sales are final.
