This course is intended for students who have already taken our ASL 1 and ASL 2 course. The course will meet on Tuesday and Thursdays 12-1pm EST for 5-weeks starting on October 12th and ending on November 11th with a make-up course date on November 16th if needed.
American Sign Language III is for students who have already taken our ASL I and ASL II courses, or have a basic knowledge of ASL vocabulary and grammar and are ready expand their skills in conversation. In this class, you’ll learn how to communicate with Deaf people while working, recreating, or volunteering in the outdoor field. Our ASL III courses are taught by a native Deaf ASL signer who has extensive experience working in the outdoor fields, and will be able to adjust teaching styles and topics to fit the needs of the students. By the end of this course, students will be able to confidently have a conversation about outdoor topics or emergency situations like wilderness medicine, have a deeper understanding of Deaf culture and etiquette tailored to outdoor settings, and so much more.
** If you haven’t taken an ASL class with CorpsTHAT before please email us before registering so that we can assess your skills and make sure you are a right fit for this course.
