This course meets on Monday and Wednesdays 12-1 pm EST for 10-weeks starting on January 10th and ending on March 16th. With a make up course day schedule for March 21st, if needed.
American Sign Language II students will refine their use of basic sentence types and try out their skills through interactions, such as giving and receiving directions. Our ASL II courses are taught by a native Deaf ASL signer who has extensive experience working in the outdoor fields and will be able to adjust teaching styles and topics to fit the students’ needs. By the end of this course, students will be able to confidently carry on conversations on topics that are commonly discussed in the outdoors, expand their extensive outdoor-related vocabularies, communicate more efficiently in emergencies like wilderness medicine, a more advanced understanding of ASL grammar and syntax, Deaf culture and etiquette tailored to outdoor settings, and so much more.
CorpsTHAT’s ASL courses meet virtually twice a week, with a maximum of eight students. Students will use google classrooms to submit assignments outside of class time.
