This course meets on Tuesday and Thursday 3-4pm EST for 10-weeks starting on September 8th and ending on November 17th with a make-up course date on November 19th if needed. Classes will not meet on Oct 12th, Nov 3rd, Nov 11th due to federal holidays and voting day.
Learn the basic signs you need to know in order to communicate with Deaf people while working, recreating or volunteering in the outdoor field.
This course will meet for a 1 hour long class twice a week and have a maximum of 8 students. Courses are taught by a native Deaf ASL signer who has extensive experience working in the outdoor fields and will be able to adjust teaching styles and topics to fit the needs of the students. Along with basic vocabulary, students will learn an introduction to Deaf culture and etiquette tailored to outdoor settings.
The course will be taught online using Zoom and Google Classrooms platforms. Once students register a syllabus along with Zoom and Google Classroom links will be sent to the participant closer to the start of the class date.
